An afternoon of free entertainment in Sutton Coldfield's heart
Members of the public were invited to join local arts and community groups who came together to put on a variety of entertainment on the afternoon of 14 February.
The afternoon kicked off with a walk run by Still Walking and organised by THSH along the Sutton New Hall boundary. It started at noon at the Anvil Inn on the corner of Reddicap Heath Road and Springfield Road. After about two hours, the walkers finished at the Verdo Lounge on Birmingham Road, Wylde Green. More information can be found here www.thsh.co.uk/event/arts-champions/.
The afternoon continued from 3pm at Clifton Road Youth Centre where dance groups Body Beat and Squirm performed. Banners Gate Community Association line danced to a medley of film themes, accompanied by children from Banners Gate Primary School.
There was also a chance to see a preview of songs from the production of Avenue Q that successfully ran at Highbury Theatre Centre from 17 February.
Local musician Joe Cook talked about his work with Falcon Lodge Youth Centre members, who were supported by Birmingham City Council to describe their experiences in lyrics for the first time.
Joe also performed with the popular local band, Lobster.
The afternoon included a session from the Tom Walker Trio, courtesy of THSH, and the event finished with a cream tea.
The programme for the afternoon is here and some pictures are below.
